Abstract: The main objective of this research paper is to acquire an efficient understanding of the caste system in India. The caste system comprises of castes, which are known as Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras. These are grouped on the basis of the occupations that they carry out. The concept of untouchability is practiced in all communities throughout the country. The untouchables are engaged in different occupations, such as, removing the carcasses of dead animals and birds, cleaning the sewers, and so forth. These are considered to be impure occupations, which enable the upper castes to remain at a distance from untouchables. The upper castes form the viewpoint that their status would get polluted, hence, they maintained social distancing. The concepts of purity and pollution are practiced on the basis of the occupations in which they are engaged in. The individuals, belonging to all castes have one of the primary goals of promoting enrichment of their overall standards of living. Hence, they are wholeheartedly committed towards putting into operation their job duties in a well-organized manner and generating desired outcomes. Individuals put emphasis on inculcating the traits of morality, ethics, diligence and conscientiousness. Therefore, it is well-understood, all castes are focused on promoting community well-being. The main concepts that are taken into account in this research paper are, understanding the caste system in India, characteristics of caste system, and advantages and disadvantages of the caste system.

Abstract: The present paper aims at analyzing the role of ‘educational institutions’ in the era of globalization. The boon of globalization, i.e., the rapid invention of modern scientific techniques as well as the bane, i.e., emotional detachment in the inter-personal relationships resulting in the lack of respect especially, in teacher-taught relationship that is creating a vacuum in the society are also discussed. The paper encompasses some of the innovative pedagogical skills from a teacher’s perspective as well as that of a student’s too. The aim of the enlisted methods is to make classroom teaching more effective and interesting. The paper is therefore, divided into two sections, the first comprising teacher’s ideology regarding effective teaching and the second section incorporates the expectations of students from the teacher regarding the same, as teaching is a two-way process which remains incomplete until or unless the receiver or student is present.

Abstract: In Indian governance studies, the urban government is largely understudied. Even less research has been done on it from the standpoint of citizenship and rights. In addition to the general requirement to make the city a more welcoming environment for its inhabitants, the right to the city entails the provision of fundamental urban amenities such as basic housing, clean drinking water, sanitary facilities, and a wide range of other necessities. In urban studies, governance has gotten the least attention, and the current discussion is only about governments in major cities. However, the idea of “right to the city” must be applied to cities of all scales. This paper investigates the significance of and potential applications for the Right to the City in Indian cities. It examines how the Right to the City is expressed internationally in both national and international legal frameworks, recounts Indian housing law precedent, and explains the political strategies of staking claims to urban areas in India. The methodology is based on the literature review, via a critical reading, of the available secondary data. This study analyses the Right to the City to highlight the prevalent issues and challenges in its implementation in India. The study concludes that affirming the right to the city as a basic right arising out of the Indian Constitution would lead to an improvement in urban governance, which would then be carried out in a more inclusive way, taking into consideration the fundamental urban and human rights of its residents and contributing to the larger goal of sustainable cities in India.

Abstract: Human values and experiences have generally been ignored in determining the life satisfaction of citizens. This paper empirically tests the relationship between the dependent variable of life satisfaction with explanatory variables like income, health, educational level, religiosity, and democratic values. The data is taken from the World Value Survey with a sufficiently large sample size. The analyses of descriptive statistics and Spearman’s rank-order correlation is followed by the main analysis within the framework of the Ordered Logistic Regression model. The results reassert the importance of values and human experiences in policymaking.

Abstract: Fairy tales have been associated with story time at home, in schools and libraries, and bedtime reading rituals for a long time. From Hans Christian Anderson to Brothers Grimm, fairy tales have been part of every generation, and each child has their favorite. Disney’s version of fairy tales has become the accepted version among people. This variation of the famous classic fairy tales and alteration of the original tale to a white man’s tale of love and glory is called Disneyfication. The domination of Disney over these fairy tales has pushed the original lesser-known tales to the background. The old original tales have vintage and rich historical records, and it is sad to see that the Disney interpretation is what everyone remembers in reality. The fairy tales were first told orally to groups of peasants worldwide, and their true beginnings are unclear. The stories were likely first recorded in the 14th century (Zipes, 2001,[13]). The stories evolved from being a kind of amusement for uneducated peasants to being embraced by the middle classes and the nobility as more and more authors started to write their versions of the classics. Each time an author/s altered the fairy tales, it was to match the preferences and deliver what was acceptable. This paper examines one such fairy tale ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and how Disney has altered it. Disney’s adaptation of the fairy tale reflects the company’s domination and how it took over the general psyche of people. This paper seeks answers to the questions: Does Disney’s animated version of fairy tales change the perception of fairy tales like Sleeping Beauty? Is the influence of Disney so dominant that their version is more recognizable to people than the original stories?
